Sukhumvit Soi 33 and its tiny neighbor Soi 33/1 punch far above their size. Soi 33/1 — a short walking lane directly opposite EmQuartier — is Bangkok's "Little Tokyo": Japanese restaurants, izakaya, bakeries, and the UFM Fuji Super supermarket that anchors daily life for the city's largest Japanese community.
The lane feels transplanted from a Tokyo neighborhood — compact, orderly, and busiest at lunch and after office hours. Even if you're not Japanese, it's one of the best places in Bangkok for an authentic, reasonably priced Japanese meal.
Soi 33 proper is a different character: a long-standing bar and lounge scene near the mouth gives way to condominiums and offices deeper in. The two coexist — families shop on 33/1 while the 33 nightlife wakes up after dark. Both are within a few minutes' walk of BTS Phrom Phong.
On Google Maps you'll see the street labelled "Sukhumvit 33 Alley," and Little Tokyo's lane as "Sukhumvit 33/1" — the map's naming convention for Bangkok sois.
